Artist, curator, art critic, and political analyst (since 1978)

He founded and directs the Aula do Risco since 1994.

Since 2016, he has been the artistic director of The New Art Fest (where art meets technology).

He has written and published, in books, catalogs, magazines and blogs, more than 3000 texts.

He has participated in numerous conferences and colloquia in Portugal and abroad, as well as in television shows.

His art has a distinct conceptual mark. The Philosopher series, from 1990-91, is composed of 8 fluorescent light works.

From 1996 until 2017 he has collaborated with the Museo Extremeño e Iberoamericano de Arte Contemporáneo, where he has developed a vast and pioneering work to bring contemporary art museography closer to new technologies.

Together with Carlos Sant’Ana, he developed a vision of Lisbon as a city with two banks (2005).

He designed Ex-Mater, a city for art and technology, at Montemor-o-Novo (1995-96).

He developed the programmatic bases of the Centro de Arte y Nuevas Tecnologias, in A Coruña (1987).

Participated in the inaugural exhibition of Reina Sofia Museum of Art, Madrid (1986).

Participated in the XII Paris Biennial (1982).

It is represented in the following public collections: Calouste Gulbenkian Museum, Serralves Museum, Berardo Museum, MVM-Museo Vostell-Malpartida, Museo Extremeño Iberoamericano de Arte Contemporáneo.
