After becoming the winner of the Black Raven Award (prize awarded by The New Art Fest), with the artwork “Ariane”, a deepfack video that discusses the diffusion and consumption of images, as well as the possibilities operated by artificial intelligence and the way in which contemporary technique and hypertechnology filters reality to give us new simulacral realities apparently unnoticed in everyday life, Rodrigo Gomes (Faro, PT, 1991), now introduces us to “Whispering Mirrors”. Curated by David Revés, this project presents a wide range of new sculptures by the artist that can be constituted in the exhibition space as organic realities independent of their viewer, developing their own modes of existence and visibility. This exhibition will have its first moment at the Carpintarias de São Lázaro, in Lisbon, from the 6th of August to the 26th of September, where an immersive, reflective and specular environment will be created capable of equating the subjective relationships of the body with technical and its multimedia terminals, proposing new configurations of space and time, thus refuting its apparent linearity and predictability. In October 2022, this project will also have an itinerary, moving to the Igrexa da Universidade, an exhibition space at the University of Santiago de Compostela, in Spain.
