Emanuel Pimenta
IoT is a concert composed by Emanuel Dimas de Melo Pimenta based on the Internet of Things. In one of the busiest downtown areas of Lisbon, Rua Garrett, and Largo do Chiado, 431 hotspots were detected. These Internet nodes determined the structure and sounds of the concert.
IoT – Internet of Things – was inspired by Cerveira Pinto’s concept of Second City.
BIO
Emanuel Pimenta (Brazil) is an arquitecht, composer and intermedia artist. Since 1970 he’s been developing art projects com IA and Virtual Reality. He created “visual architecture” and the first virtual planet in 1980, anticipating Second Life by about 25 years. Among others, he studied under H. J. Koellreuter, and worked as a composer for John Cage and Merce Cunningham for several years. His works have been presented at the Venice’s and São Paulo’s Biennial, at the Whitney Museum, at the MART in Italy and at the Kunsthaus in Zurich, as well as numerous theatres and opera houses.
