Naganeo
BIO
“Exponential advances in computer technology have irrevocably altered art. Digital and internet culture have fostered multiple visual aesthetics of their own, with Instagram, Tumblr and other social platforms acting as de facto gallery spaces, where art appears alongside the ordinary.
Japanese painter and graphic designer Naganeo creates work that exists in the curious space between digital and physical realms. A 3D nude female form, often clutching an iPhone, is encircled by computerized smears, Windows dialogue boxes and psychedelic digital patterns. The subject appears trapped in a formless, endless, abstract space that is unpredictable and often uncomfortable. It’s a powerful interpretation of our existence on the boundary of the tangible and the purely digital.”
